Lock Computer using Shortcut

In Windows XP, we usually lock computer using screen saver password. Lock computer using this method is not good, because if we check “On resume, display logon screen” in screen saver, our computer is still can use by other people that have another account in computer.

Highest security level in Windows Vista has a new feature, Lock Computer. So just you and administrator can use computer, when you leave it.

To use this feature, you can click Windows logo, then click right arrow in Start menu, click “Lock”.

If you want lock computer faster, you can create shortcut in desktop.
1. Right click in desktop, then New > Shortcut
2. Type “rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation”, then click Next
3. Give some name, I use “Lock Computer”
4. If you want to change shortcut icon, right click in shortcut, then select Properties
5. Go to Shortcut tab, click “Change Icon..”, and select icon you want, after that click Ok

Now you can lock computer by just run the shortcut.
